H. Lyman Sayen
The Thundershower, c.a. 1917 - 1918, was painted by H. Lyman Sayen. This particular painting is a mix of European Modernism and Native American decorative patterns, though it is not cross-culture. This piece is seen as a bridge between the old world to a new century. This was one of the final paintings that Sayen created before he passed away. Today the original, created with tempera on wood, is in the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
